Jenny Graham and Lael Wilcox star in exclusive GCN+ documentary, as they tackle Iceland’s breathtaking landscape on two wheels. Cycling and adventure fans can now enjoy one of the most ambitious documentaries ever from GCN+, as The Rift: Riding Iceland’s Fault Line, is released today.
Starring legendary American ultra-endurance rider, Lael Wilcox, and Scottish solo circumnavigation by bike record-holder, Jenny Graham, The Rift is the second in a series of three original films focussed on the cycling culture and epic riding of Iceland.
The duo travel more than 200km across the country’s breathtaking landscapes including the Continental Divide, across challenging water crossings and into the shadow of an active volcano. Against stunning backdrops, Lael and Jenny explore how the Icelandic people have harnessed their natural resources to become one of the world’s leading self-sustaining energy producers.
This latest film joins close to 100 original documentaries created by GCN+ to immerse viewers in every aspect of cycling. More films are added to the platform each week spanning epic adventures, inspiring challenges, groundbreaking science and technology of the past and present, profiles of legends of the sport, and global cycling culture.
The Rift: Riding Iceland’s Fault Line and GCN+’s catalogue of films are exclusively available via the GCN App, all web browsers, AndroidTV, Smart TV, Amazon FireTV, and Chromecast. Alongside these original documentaries, GCN+ is home to comprehensive live and on demand coverage and expert analysis of all disciplines of professional racing, across Grand Tours, Spring Classics, road, CX, and track World Championships and the all-new UCI Track Champions League.
Jenny Graham, around the world record holder and GCN+ presenter, said: “It was an absolute joy getting to work with Lael and be part of the GCN+ crew as we discovered Iceland; it’s people, it’s landscape and it’s amazing bike trails. We are so privileged to have been able to get out there and experience this incredible place, and I hope the documentary encourages people to grab their friends and get on two wheels to discover something amazing.”
Mike Rees, Production Director, GCN+, said: “When creating adventure content for GCN+ we are always looking for inspirational people and incredible destinations that could be combined to make a unique ride. The most important thing for us will always be the depth of the characters and their stories – something that both the Icelandic people, Jenny and Lael have in common. We are delighted to have been able to get Lael and Jenny to team up and take on an epic ride together for the first time in a breathtaking landscape and alongside such brilliant local people.”
