Transformation of the Day: Erika lost 75 pounds. The pandemic caused her to focus on health and wellness. She switched her eating habits by following a low-carb plan and worked out by walking and jumping rope. She’s still on her journey, but she’s not waiting until the end to celebrate her accomplishment.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was actually the pandemic. Being obese, I did not want to risk being one of many who would end up in the hospital with Covid. I was determined to be healthy enough that my immune system could fight it if I did get sick.

How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits with intermittent fasting paired with a low-carb plan. I use a guide called Trim Clubs that I followed many years ago. This plan works as long as I stick to it.

What did your workout routine consist of? How many days a week did you work out?
I walk four miles on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I walk 2 miles on Saturdays, and I just incorporated jumping rope into my routine on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My highest weight was 340 pounds, and I currently weigh 265 pounds. My goal is to get under 200 lbs.

What is your height?
I am 5’5″.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started this journey in January of 2021, and I am still on this journey.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No. I think this is my last attempt at losing weight before I consider surgery.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned (because I have done this weight loss thing many, many times and gained the weight back) is to not think of this journey as a diet. This is a lifestyle change that does not end.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
For women who want to lose weight, I would advise them to try different eating ‘guides’ that fit them personally and be ready to change their life.
