Our scripture for the Daily Devotional today is taken from Zechariah 9:9-13. God, the Lord of the universes and all that was created was presenting His great plan. His savior was presented for all to see.
“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and victorious,
lowly and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim
and the warhorses from Jerusalem,
and the battle bow will be broken.
He will proclaim peace to the nations.
His rule will extend from sea to sea
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
11 As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you,
I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit.
12 Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope;
even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.
13 I will bend Judah as I bend my bow
and fill it with Ephraim.
I will rouse your sons, Zion,
against your sons, Greece,
and make you like a warrior’s sword.”
On the donkey, rides your savior!
God reminds us to celebrate as He presents Jesus. We are receiving the greatest gift ever available. Freedom from sin and all bondages has been made available through the blood of Jesus. That is certainly something to celebrate and rejoice in!
Are you a prisoner to the hope that God has provided us through our savior? We can never think that we are not heard or valued when our creator and Father in heaven sacrificed Jesus for us and our freedom! Let us give ourselves over to the truth that Jesus came and died for us.
Look to the hills of Jerusalem as Jesus rode in upon that donkey. He was not imposing or majestic. God presented Jesus to us as a lowly servant that was submissive to the mission of His Father.
Thank you that Jesus came to us with a strong yet subtle message. Help me not to miss the whispers of Your plans and purposes for the savior of the world is here with us!
