31 Days of Global Flavors for National Nutrition Month: Day 9

As part of National Nutrition Month, we are speaking with different nutrition experts on their favorite global flavors. Today, we are hearing from Elena Paravantes Hargitt.

Feta Cheese

Feta is a Greek white brined cheese produced from sheep’s milk or a combination of sheep’s and goat’s milk. Elena loves feta for its tangy, rich, and slightly salty flavor. And it’s so versatile, it gives a burst of flavor to anything it’s added to.

I use feta cheese as an accompaniment to most of the vegetarian dishes I serve. I add it in casseroles, salads, pizza, sandwiches, and dips. I also makes this fabulous recipe for Mediterranean Feta Toast.
